    Hi Joseph Y. M.,

when I did tyour suggestion, I receive answer

"The Wireless AutoConfig Service (wlansvc) is not running."

I am lost, outside my area of experience. Can you tell me what to do next?

If it gets too complicated, I will drop that method.

    thanks nico46

There's no generally accepted method for measuring your internet speed. Each website that offers a 'speed test' uses a different way of measuring, and different methods give radically different results.

    One popular website is Ookla.

    Hi BulldogXX

    thanks for reply.

I would like to find some way of monitoring internet speed and wi-fi signal strength on a laptop computer usually used about 10 m from the wi-fi modem in another room with a computer monitor / screen and two walls between.

On an old PC I used NetMeter. I will have a look at that and remind myself of what it can do. Maybe it can do what I want.

    thanks and best wishes

    Thanks Joseph Y. M.

    I used the speedtest link.

    • and it gave me a result.

I have a vague memory of using that a couple of years ago.

Now I will try to find a way of measuring and monitoring the wi-fi signal strength on a laptop computer usually used about 10 m from the wi-fi modem in another room with a computer monitor / screen and two walls between.

    best wishes

Hi Nico46 and thanks for reaching out. My name is Joseph. I'm an independent advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

Speedtest measures the speed between your device and a test server, using your device's internet connection.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes.

    Thank you!
