Desktop is zoomed in and distorted / blurry

Everything was fine when i went to best last night. Upon restarting my PC today, everything was zoomed in slightly.

Now my image is zoomed in, resulting in a reduction of screen size of about 1/3 the size of the smallest taskbar. This is accompanied by a slight blur / distortion over everything. The blur is not to bad / distracting, but it feels like someone shifted every bit of text a bit, whilst leaving the old text in place, resulting in this phenomenon.

I don't know why this is the case, there was no update in between yesterday and today (at least that's what my update history says).

I have started to try and fix this problem with several restarts of my PC and a reinstallation of the drivers utilized by my graphics card. Unfortunately without success.

In case anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this, i would be very grateful as it is a very strange occurence.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

After accepting defeat and very calmly checking everything again, i went to into my monitor settings again.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY ANYTHING IN THERE WOULD CHANGE AT ALL, but upon inspecting my aspect ratio, there was something different. One click later my problem was resolved and everything is back to normal. However, i don't know why this would change after so many years of service, but it did. But honestly, at this point i don't even care anymore, im just happy it's back to normal.

I won't need to be trying your tips, however thanks for the fast reply :D

    Hi,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Please use DDU to remove the drivers and download the latest one from the manufacturer. Also check the cable is correctly connected if a monitor is in question.

    Please see the below options:

Option 1.Try Rolling back if you have an option:

Go to Device Manager by typing in Devmgmt.msc in Run dialog box.

Navigate to Display devices and right click ATI Radeon HD or Similar device you have. Choose Properties.

On the Driver tab, hit rollback Driver to go back to the previous version.

Option 2. Remove drivers completely and Install the the newest ones available from the OEM or the maker.

    What you need to do:

    1. Uninstall everything of Display driver using DDU

    1. Reboot.
    2. Make sure your device manager shows Microsoft Basic Display adapter.
    3. Download the driver from the OEM or the maker like AMD

5.Run the Setup and you should be good to go.
