The selected text is black?

I'm using Word in Office 365, Windows 10.  Recently, when I select text, it is highlighted in black instead of light blue. How do I get it back to light blue?  I need step by step instructions. Please and thank you!

ROCAW says: If you want to change the color of the highlight from black to blue it will apply not just in the Word app but in all the Windows settings. For this feature, you will have to the registry which is Windows settings.

    Thank you for this information.

Now what you may do next is to follow the steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R
    2. Type this command on the Run window

    WinWord /safe

Note: There is space between WinWord and /

Kindly check if it's working with a blue highlight. If it then follows the next step:

    1. Press Start and type CMD, right-click on the CMD, and select run in the admin.

Type this or copy and right-click paste.

    ren %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm OldNormal.dotm

Let me know if this helps.

    Regards,

    Thank you for that information.

    1. First, you may disable the speech recognition feature of your system, follow the steps from the link:

    1. If it's not working, try this too:

When you open Word, press F2. Once opened, check this again.

Let me know if this helps you with this concern.

    Hi StevenM111,

I’m Rey, your Independent Advisor, and a Windows user, just like you.

I understand you are having trouble with highlight.

May I ask before we'll the troubleshooting steps, are you also having this black highlight in all even if it's outside Word?

Can you check this for me and let me know.

    Regards,
