I'm replying this for the sake of any parent who has install Microsoft Launcher on a child's phone to work with Microsoft Family parental control and can't uninstall it. I took me days to finally uninstall it because it has taken over the phone and doesn't allow you to do anything, can't uninstall, can't reset phone.

First, go to the child's microsoft account to remove the device, then you log into your own account and find the list of devices under your child's name and unlink it. Then you go to your child's phone and go to microsoft launcher and sign out from your child's account. Then you sign in with your own account and then now the uninstall option is available! (I'm not sure if you had to sign in without own account to uninstall, but I did, just in case...)

Microsoft Launcher's parental control doesn't allow you to use Google Chrome but it is required for educational purpose for school. This app is a nasty one, so think thrice before installing on a child's phone.

I had the same problem, but I solved it, and it's really easy although not well document or explained by Microsoft.

    My situation:

    • I have a personal microsoft account, and my daughter has her microsoft account linked to mine as a child in my family.
    • From her phone she wasn't able to do almost anything involving configurations of the phone.
    • There's no easy way to temporarily disable child mode from the phone itself (I couldn't find one).

So, using my account (as an Adult responsible of my daughter's account) I headed to: https://account.microsoft.com/family

There, under my daughter's user, I clicked on "Activity".

After that you should see a switch with the text "Activity Reporting" --> just switch that to Off.

That, allowed me to configure anything on the phone,,, it will just send the information it can, without blocking anything I guess.

I hope it helps you or someone else.

I think the point in the Microsoft Family is not letting the "child" to make any important modification to the phone.

It's always possible, I guess, to "Factory Reset" your phone, doing a hard reset... each make and model of phone has a combination of buttons to press in order to do a Hard Reset.

Just search "Hard Reset" + your phone model to see if you find something.

    Hello Hernan

    Thank you very much !!

I had the exact same problem & at each new startup of my daughter's Huawei P Smart 2019, the Microsoft Launcher was replaced by the Huawei Launcher. Your solution helped me.

I hope that in the future, Microsoft will secure the Microsoft Launcher as default launcher & will improve the parental control by letting us access easily at the configuration and settings of the phone, while at the same time still having the possibility to receive activity reports.

    Best regards,

    David.

um...how do you suppose I could fix that if I am labeled as the child? I tried to leave the Microsoft family group but my phone is still in child mode.
