Wifi and Airplane Mode options missing

Hi.

Airplane Mode is automatically turned on, and both the "WiFi" and "Airplane Mode" tabs are missing from my Settings -> Network & Internet.

I am currently connected to the Internet with Ethernet (cable) with 5GB. However my HP Printer does not support 5GB. Therefore I need to disconnect from Ethernet, and connect to the 2GB wireless WiFi option that my modem is giving to my printer too. However the airplane mode in turned on under my Ethernet connection. I see the small airplane icon instead of the Internet Icon. I am working on a desktop (also HP). Windows 10.

Many thanks for your help

Best regards,

Rez

Unfotunately have not succeeded yet. Re method three, when I search RadioEnable I do not get anything back. My device is an HP desktop, not a laptop, if it matters.

    Hi,

Thank you for replying, and I apologize for the delayed response.

One of the things that you can try is deleting the network driversfrom the PC, and downloading it from the manufacturer website.

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
    2. In Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
    3. Now expand the Network adapters
    4. Now right click on the Network driverinside the section and click on Uninstall Device.
    5. If asked for restart click on restart later.

In addition, you can try running System File Checker scan on the PC, and see if that helps.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues with Airplane Mode on your PC. I will try my best to assist you with the issue.

For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below:

    1.    Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?

    2.    Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and see if that helps.

    Method 1:

Check if WIFI adapter is getting detected on the PC. Right click on the Windows logo and select Device Manager. Now under Network adapters check if you can see WIFI device.

There are chances that the WIFI adapter is disabled by a key on the keyboard. Check if WIFI Adapter is disabled. Some laptops have a switch/key to disable WIFI adapter. AS soon as you press it, it will show Airplane mode

    Method 2:

Try re-installing the Network Adapter drivers and see if that helps. Refer the section Reinstall the device driver from the article Update drivers in Windows 10

    Method 3:

Try changing the registry settings for Airplane Mode and see if that helps.

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
    2. In Run dialog box, type regedit and hit enter.
    3. Now navigate to the location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
    4. Right click on Control and click on Find…
    5. Now type in RadioEnable and click on Find Next
    6. On the right hand pane double click on RadioEnable and change the value data to 0
    7. Click on OK
    8. Restart the PC.

Let us know how it goes, if the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.
