Microsoft Store and Included apps such as Paint, 3D Viewer, etc will not open.

I am hoping I do not have to re-install.

Windows 10 Pro Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.778)

I have tried everything (see below) and I believe by the logs that the apps are missing on my PC so they cannot reinstall.

They will flash open ultra quick and close. This is what I have tried.

Any help would be appreciated as it would take hours to set up my system again.

This is what I have tried:

  1. Download and run the problem solver for applications and the Windows Store: http://aka.ms/diag_apps10
  2. Manually restore store settings:

a) Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run window.

b) Type wsreset.exe and press the Enter key to execute the command.

  1. Wait for the process to finish, restart your computer and check that it has been fixed.
  2. Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down to the bottom > Click Windows Store Apps > Click Run the Troubleshooter

  1. Reset Windows Store through Command Prompt

Type cmd in Windows Search box > Right click on Command Prompt > Run As Administrator > Type WSreset.exe and click Enter > Reboot your computer

  1. Re-register All Store apps (You will get many Reds, ignore them)

Windows Key+X > Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Restart your computer

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

  1. Uninstall & Reinstall Store

Windows Key+X > Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Remove-AppxPackage

Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Reboot your computer

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  1. Run Built-in & Guided Walk through Windows Update troubleshooter

Built-in : Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Click Windows Update > Click Run the Troubleshooter

Guided Walk though - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/...

  1. Check your Antivirus

Temporarily uninstall / disable AV. Enable after troubleshooting.

    Hello Bruce,

Thank you for updating me that information. After you take over permissions of the folder, is that your administrator account?

    If yes,

    Win+R then type C:\Program Files

Under View click the box "Hidden items" to show hidden items

On the list of folders below kindly find WindowsApps

Right click then Properties then select Security Tab

    Click Advanced.

    Click the Add button

    Click "Select a principal" link

Click the locations button and select the local computer

    Click Advanced then Find Now

On the list find and add the "All Applications Packages" group name and click ok

    Then Hit OK.

    Press Start then search Powershell

Right click then Run as administrator. Copy paste the command then Enter

    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Restart your PC.

Login as administrator then Launch the Store.

    Sincerely

    Hi John,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Windows 10 Pro Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.778)

Happened about 2 months ago. I have tried most of the things I have seen on the treads as you can see. I also created a new user account with no change.

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 Home (which had the issue) to Windows 10 Pro 3 weeks ago.

I will try the Repair Install of Windows 10 this evening after I finish working. Will let you know the result.

    Hello BruceBrecht,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I understand you have a problem with MS Store and related apps not working. When was the last time it was working? Did you made any changes recently? What is your Windows edition and version? Press WIN+I, select System then About.

Please try to create a new administrator account then check if everything is working there.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402692...

If doesn't work, kindly perform a System Restore on an earlier date which all the apps was still working properly

    Open Start.

Search for Create a restore point, and click the top result to open the System Properties experience.

    Click the System Restore button.

    Click the Next button.

Select the restore point that you want to use on your computer. You can check the box "Show more restore points"

    Click Next then Finish

If still doesn't work, Please try to Perform a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications. The in-place upgrade will also bring you the latest Windows update.

**Few things to check on the PC

    1. Important: Back up your personal data and files to an external hard drive, USB thumb drive, or cloud location (such as OneDrive) before you begin any reinstall of Windows 10.
    2. Ensure you are signed in or have administrator rights to do a repair install
    3. Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
    4. Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

Please NOTE: You don't need to follow the instructions to turn off Secure Boot
