Logitech webcam HD C525 driver error

I have the following issue with a Logitech webcam HD C525:

When connecting it to an HP Elite notebook running Windows 10 x64, the webcam is shown under 'Audio' but reports a driver error. When I check details under 'devices and printers'-->'webcam properties'-->'hardware properties'-->'general', the error is reported as follows:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

{Bad Image} %hs is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x

I've already tried the following to get the camera working, to no avail:

  • uninstall the webcam, including the drivers;
  • connect the webcam the different USB ports;
  • install the webcam using latest Logitech software LWS280 or LogiCameraSettings_2.10.4;
  • update driver using the option 'search automatically for updated driver software'; the response is that the best drivers are already installed. Driver version is 13.80.853.0, driver date is 22-10-2012.

The webcam works without issues on a desktop PC running Windows 7 x64.

I hope someone can help, thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Omar

    Hi everyone - I fixed this exact problem by choosing the 'Roll back driver' option.

    ('devices and printers'-->'webcam properties'-->'hardware properties'-->'driver tab')

    The driver version then reverted back to Microsoft 21/6/2006.

    I repeated that for the C525 entry under 'Sound and Video' as well.

    All good to go after that 👍

    Cheers

    Guy

    Hi all,

    Late response; I finally managed to get the camera to work, after running all Win10 updates.

    Try uninstalling the driver & installing it using compatibility mode.

    Make sure you’ve installed the driver before connecting the camera.

    Try also Removing the device, uninstalling the drivers & plugging the camera back in without installing any drivers to see if a default driver is loaded.

    You might have to follow the suggestion here:

    Other than these I’m out of options.
