Trying to run Sims 1 on my Windows 10 laptop

Hi, all.  I am trying to run the base game for The Sims on my laptop.  I have tried to download patches but they seem to be only for the deluxe editions.  i have also tried running in compatibility mode for all Windows OS.

I once had issues running Sims 2 on my laptop, but that was resolved after running a patch and running in compatibility mode.

Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while running Sims 1 on your PC. I will certainly try my best to assist you with the issue.

Based on my research, the game is compatible with Windows XP and earlier version of Windows. We can try adjusting compatibility mode settings and see if we can run the game. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below:

    1.    Right click on the exe file and select Properties.

    2.    Now select the Compatibility Tab and check the box next to Run in 640x480 screen resolution

    3.    Under Compatibility Mode select the drop down value to Windows XP

    4.    Checkthe box next to Reduced color mode

    5.    Now click on OK and restart the PC.

After restarting the PC try launching the game and see if it is working fine.
