Tiff photo file unable to delete, move, or change name with any application.

I have a photo  file that wont respond to any change and wont delete with Explorer

There is no error message at all.

The file opens on all photo editing software but edits will not save, the process just stops with no  error message.

Any changes with Explorer just stop indefinitely, so Explorer has to be closed.

I have tried Safe Mode and Command prompt only with Administrator access but I get "File not recognised" by Command line deletion or no effect when deleted by Explorer.

What is the problem with this file ? It is a tiff file that actually contains several layers (or photos) within it. Perhaps Windows does not recognise these ?

Since your file name contains embedde spaces, you must enclose it with double-quotes:

del "Sirges Spain . . "

or else

del  Sirges*.tif

Note also that you should report error messages literally. Initially you wrote

"File not recognised"

wheres in fact the message was

"Could not find . . ."

Been a while since I used Command Line entries, thanks for the correction.

Command Prompt accepted the file name in double quotes then cursor jumped to next line, just blinking on off, and not able to complete the

    deletion.

I opened Task Manager application alongside and did "end Task" for all open Windows Explorer apps, and Command Line completed the deletion.

Windows Explorer was not allowing this file deletion for some unknown reason.

    Thanks for your help

Hi, Enclosed snapshot. The error message often truncates the full file name also.

I get "File not recognised" by Command line deletion or no effect when deleted by Explorer.

Please try the command line deletion again while in an elevated command prompt, then  use snippingtool.exe to create a snapshot of the console frame. Save the snapshot to your desktop, then attach it to your reply.
