Hi Tyler,
This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about Microsoft Support.
I understand if you are worried about getting assistance over the net because of other tech scams pretending to be Microsoft support. This time, you don't have to be worried since you contacted the correct support number. Legit Microsoft technician really resorts to remote accessing customer's computers so they can work on it more effectively. They either use the Quick Assist app which is the remote tool in Windows 10 and they also use the Log Me In tool which is a 3rd party remote access tool. If the will use Log Me In (LMI), they will ask you to go to a certain website which is https://support.microsoft.com/help and they will provide you a 6-digit code to initiate the remote session.
I hope the information I provided will help you. If you need further assistance please do reply back and I will respond as quickly as possible. Have a nice day.
Thanks,
Wilfred P.
