when I turn on my Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series, I get the message that it does not recognize my battery and therefore it will not charge the battery.  So I am stuck with having to leave it plugged in always.  any solutions?  i am not that computer literate so detailed explanation or directions would be appreciated.  Thank you for your help!

    Hi Eric

    1

How old roughly is your laptop?

    2

Start your laptop, on the Dell logo screen, repeatedly press F12

From the resulting menu choose Diagnostics

Run that diagnostics and when asked if you want to perform an extended Memory test, choose not to do that . . .

Does your Power Supply and Battery pass that diagnostics test?
