clview.exe Process found in Exlpoit Protection Program Override Settings

Greetings.

I am currently running a Windows 10 64bit machine.

When looking through the Exploit Protection settings in Windows Defender, I found a process named clview.exe. This process is not present in my task manager, which lets me suspect that it is probably not running.

Anyhow, I have found that this process can be genuine and non-harmful, specifically if it is located in the Program Files folder. How do I get to the executable's location if I can not access it through the task manager?

I would like to verify that this file is safe since it has system override privileges.

Thank you very much.

    Hi G-Power

Probably that was not the best thing to do, those permissions vary form PC to PC and also with the software you have installed on your PC, there is no 'default set' . . .

It will only be when you try to use a piece of software and you get an error, that you will know it will need to be re-installed to reset the permissions for that application . . .

    Hi G-Power

clview.exe is a legitimate process associated with Microsoft Office and should be located at C:\Program Files\microsoft office\officeXX

    Hi G-Power

Yes that is correct, that file is named with all capitals, but at a very base level, Windows is case-insensitive when it comes to file naming convention

Rest assured you have nothing to worry about with regards to that file, it is located correctly and is a genuine Microsoft file . . .

I found it in the directory you just gave me.

It is named all in capitals as CLVIEW.exe, even though I had found it to be named clview.exe in Windows Defender. Is this normal?

Thanks so much for helping me out with this.

    Hi G-Power

That is strange, check in this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\OfficeXX, where XX is your version of Microsoft Office . ..
