Hi, I have purchased a digital download or Digital copy of Windows 10 Pro - FQC-09131. Is this is a clean or fresh install or can i Just go to Settings  > Update & Security  > Activation. Select Change product key, and then enter the 25-character Windows 10 Pro product key to start the upgrade? Or, is there another method for this?

    Hi Prakash,

Thank you for your response and clarifying this one. In this case, you have to perform a clean installation instead of activating your digital license from Settings. If you are to upgrade your Windows version, you need to perform a clean install.

Go to this link below and follow all instructions before downloading the tool for upgrade.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have other concerns.

    Hi Jericho,

    thank you :)

I got this (FQC-09131) in order to upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro. I got to know later that this is not an upgrade and that it is a full version and will be a fresh install. A while later, I was told that I can still use this product key to activate Windows 10 Pro from Settings  > Update & Security  > Activation. Select Change product key, and then enter the 25-character Windows 10 Pro product key to start the upgrade.

So do I do it as how I was told? i.e. Go to Update & Security  > Activation and enter the product key there to make it work or do i use this to do a clean install?

    Regards,

    Prakash

    Hello PrakashPeedikayil,

    Good day!

I'm Jericho, a fellow customer and an individual advisor. I am happy to assist you!

For your case, if you have your Microsoft account synced with your Windows system then you may just go to Settings > Update & security > Activation.

If you only have a local account, you need to add a Microsoft Account to Windows 10. Go to Settings > Update & security > Activation, click Add an account and complete the process.

If you are having issues activating your account, you may try follow the steps below.

Go to Settings > Update & security > Activation, select Troubleshoot, sign-in with your Microsoft Account. Choose the computer in the list of digital licenses associated with your account, select 'This is the device I’m using right now' and click Activate.

For all other steps, please refer to this link below.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have other queries/concerns.

    Cheers,

    Jericho
