How do I get downloads to automatically download into the downloads folder

A few weeks ago when I downloaded something I had it download to my desktop.  Ever since then whenever I download something, it saves to the desktop instead of the downloads folder.  How do I get downloads to automatically download into the downloads folder?  I've tried several things without success and I am sure it's just something ridiculously simple that's eluded me.

    Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today.

I am also Windows 10 user. Let us work together to sort this out.

What browser you are using to download a file? If its Chrome, please refer to the steps below.

Here's the steps on how you can change the default download folder.

You can choose a location on your computer where downloads should be saved by default or pick a specific destination for each download.

    On your computer, open Chrome.

At the top right, click More More and then Settings.

    At the bottom, click Advanced.

Under the "Downloads" section, adjust your download settings:

To change the default download location, click Change and select where you'd like your files to be saved.

If you'd rather choose a specific location for each download, check the box next to "Ask where to save each file before downloading."

If you are using Internet Explorer.

Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools button, and then select View downloads.

In the View Downloads dialog box, select Options in the lower-left.

Choose a different default download location by selecting Browse and then selecting OK when you're done.

I hope the steps and information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    With Warm Regards,

    Rhaine C.
