Hello,

When purchased online and downloaded the Halo: The Master Chief Collection recently, I only received three games.  Halo: Reach, Halo: CE Anniversary & Halo 2.  I am missing from my purchase Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST & Halo 4.  According to the webpage, the package/purchase includes all six games.

Hi, my name is Neil, I'm an independent adviser and a Windows 10 user like you.

I thought the same thing when I bought the Master Chief Collection myself too!

What I didn't realise is that the release of the games is staggered throughout 2019/2020. They are being worked on and 'polished' by different studios, along with 127 multiplayer maps.

The original release schedule looked like this:

    Halo Reach: December 3, 2019

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary: March 3, 2020

    Halo 2: Anniversary: May 12, 2020

    Halo 3 & ODST: Unknown

    Halo 4: Sometime in 2020

You can see this here at PC Gamer: https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/halo-the-master-chie...

So although they are currently missing, they will be added to the collection shortly and you will own all of them as they get added. They will all be definitely added in 2020.

And I 100% agree that this was not made very clear at the time I bought the games and it doesn't sound like it is any clearer now still since you obviously didn't know about the staggered release either.

The description at the Microsoft Store reads:

"For the first time, the series that changed console gaming forever comes to PC with six blockbuster games in one epic experience. This bundle includes all titles in the collection that will be delivered over time, beginning now with Halo: Reach and ending with Halo 4 in 2020."

So as you can read it does state that the games will be released 'over time' and finishing with Halo 4 in 2020, but buying the pack you would expect them all to be already included as we are in 2020.

So I can only apologise for the confusion. I am waiting for the releases myself! :|

However, I hope this explains why they are currently missing from your collection. At least you know it's not a fault at your end.

    You're most welcome Mike!

It is a fantastic collection! Well, it will be when it's complete :D

    Plenty of replayability too!

I'll mark this question as resolved if that's OK with you.

Please feel free to leave me a rating if you have the opportunity. I'd really appreciate that!

    Have a great day!

    Hello Neil!

Thank you for your in-depth explanation on this matter.  Wow, talk about fine print...  Staggering - "interesting" new marketing strategy by Microsoft these days.  Their product description should have been more clear on that.  In order to avoid any gotcha moments.  But it does explain a lot.  At least I'm not out of three games for what I paid.  Just have to be patient.

But that's a great thing about the Halo series.  It's very repayable.  And playing Halo on pc is an entirely new experience.  And love the remastered cutscenes!  They should do an animated movie in that style. Just got to figure out how you can replay them without going through the whole level.  Or just watch them on Youtube.  Ha!

So I can make due until the three other games become available.  Thank you again Neil for taking your time out to answer my question.

    Best,

    -Mike
