I recently uninstalled Linux (SteamOS more specificially) and now whenever I boot, it takes me to a “GRUB rescue mode screen” and I have to restart and manually choose Windows to boot into it. Can someone help me remove GRUB?

(By the way, my hard drive is GPT)

Yes, I understand it goes to GRUB boot menu. The ways to normally get rid of that are to refresh the Windows 10 bootloader with the RebuildBCD commands or Startup Repair. Or you have to wipe the drive to get rid of GRUB in the boot sector. I gave you illustrated tutorials to do each of these things.

Hi Nova. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

As with WIndows 10 boot code, in order to fully get rid of GRUB one must wipe the hard drive with at least Diskpart Clean Command:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/85819-erase.... However this cleans the drive completely.

If you must preserve the WIndows 10 install then try reasserting the Windows 10 bootloader by running Bootrec, Bootsect and Rebuild BCD commands from this tutorial which includes everything possible for Troubleshooting Windows 10 Failure to Start: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

    https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-rebuild-the-bcd...

It can also help to run a few Startup Repairs:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
