hp printer not printing color

my printer stopped printing color.

I don't know what I would have done to change a setting and cannot find the option anywhere.

yes, it's a new cartridge and installed properly and the tape has been removed. lol

everything I found thru google either addresses a different problem or suggested fixes that I don't have options for.

any suggestions even as to where to start looking for the solution would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

Having the same issue. HP Envy 4520 Network printer. Will print in color if I use my phone, but not on any Windows 10 machines with current patch levels. It will print the "test page" with color, but no color from Word, Excel, or via browser. Tried enabling the "background color" options in word (only color setting I could find). There is nothing wrong with the printer as it will print color from other sources (android/apple phones). This appears to be an OS comparability issue.  Tried removing and re-adding the printer. HP website does not work to search for any windows 10 drivers.

    Hi MelanieSmith7,

I'm an Independent Advisor and consumer of Microsoft products just like you. Let me help you with your concern.

Try to check the printer preferences.

    1. Select Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers
    2. Right click the printer > Printing preferences
    3. Click the Paper/Quality Tab > Make it sure that Colour is selected > OK

When I follow your instructions, I do not have that option available.  Only "Quality Settings, Good, Better, Best".

But, I do know what you are speaking of and that option was there in the past.

I have contacted HP and they have had me uninstall and re-install about eight times now.

HP says it must be a Windows problem.  MS Windows support says, "It is an HP problem."

    Thanks,

    Doug

I removed my existing HP printer and re added and made sure I checked let windows manage my default printer - seemed to correct the issue for me. I read there was a compatibility issue with the latest windows update.
