I've tried the one-at-a-time "show icon only" option by right clicking the icon in the favorites bar. But what's happening is the bar resets to icon and name on it's own; it won't remember the setting. This is on only one of my two laptops. Both updated Win 10.
I just installed the New Edge Browser. How do I show icons only on my favorites bar?
I want this to be the default and I want to be able to float my cursor over an icon to see the description. That is what I want for all my favorites on the Favorites Bar. That was the way it was and I like it. If this cannot be done, can I roll back the installation?

2020-03-29T04:10:47+00:00 Hello rwjustus, I sincerely apologize that the method that I provided is not the way that you wanted MS Edge to act. I also check my Newly Installed Edge too and went to Settings and check every possible configuration and the option is not available for us to only show the Icon only, since this is a new build for MS Edge. I hope Microsoft will listen to its community and customer's feedback and make more MS EDGE open for personalization that can make it users flexible in doing such things.
I am glad also that you were able to revert back to the older MS Edge and have that feature back without applying a band aid solution and thank you for these that I am aware now that we can rollback to the older MS Edge Version.
Thanks your time and sharing this Issue with MS EDGE. Have a wonderful day and please be safe.
Paul
All I want to add is that it is not only the way I want it to work. It is the way it did work and should continue to work. I have never seen or heard of any complaints. Why was it changed? I think Microsoft owes us an explanation.

That does not put things back the way they were, Paul. Doing it your way takes away the ability to float over a lesser-used icon to confirm it is the application you want. The New Edge does not have a "Show icon only" selection. You have to select Edit and delete the text. Leaving the text in place is required to be able to float over the favorite and have the text display. Having text always show limits the number of applications you can display on your Favorites Bar. You so-called experts on these community help groups say that Edge is all or none. It is not that way with the old Edge. Personally, I think that these "all or none" comments are coming from experts "who do not like Edge" trying to steer people away like they did for years with Internet Explorer.
You have the choice in what is now being called Microsoft Edge Legacy. You can select "Show name and icon" or Show icon only" on each individual favorite. I can display 53 favorites on my screen by setting them all to "Show icon only." I understand that too many favorites might confuse some people and that some would prefer that the name text show on a few lesser used favorites. That's fine. My wife has 25 favorites with three of hers showing both the name and icon. Let us users keep the flexibility that we have now.
By the way, Paul, I was able to uninstall the new Edge and get back my old Edge. Thank God!
