Keyboard acts like i'm holding down CTRL key!

Hello! Something happens to my keyboard which is very annoying!

Somehow, and don't now how, the CTRL key behaves as it is hold, then changes all the other key functions, like Esc key behaves as Win key (actually I use this sequence to figure out, if the CRTL key is locked).

How do I deactivate this function? Simple, I just double press on CTRL key. However, that annoying function turns on randomly! I have this behave for at least 2 years and cannot find a solution to avoid that "hold CTRL"?! I switched off all ease functions. I use two languages configurations, English and Portuguese over European Portuguese QWERTY keyboard.

I have searched undreds times for a solution, but until now nothing clear :-(

Thanks,

R.

Generic fix for this generic issue: press stuck key or Ctrl+Alt+Del, Esc.

Symptoms: This issue is not limited to Ctrl, but can occur with any other modifier key (Shift, Alt, Win).

Recovery: Most of the time, Ctrl+Alt+Del re-sets key status to normal if this is happening. (Then press Esc to exit system screen.)

Another method: You can also press stuck key: so if you clearly see that it is Ctrl which got stuck, press and release both left and right Ctrl. This allows system to see key press and release events (again) and thus detect correct status of these keys.

Hello António, thanks for your reply.

I cannot remember exactly when I started to have this issue. As I mentioned before, is an issue that I have since 2 to 3 years ago. However, before that, with the same machine, all was running well. My "gut feeling" says that it started with some new ease access features that MS implemented by that time on Win10. That is why I turned it off all those features. But randomly, that CTRL key #$% locks, by no specific reason which I could find...

In the beginning I was freaking out, because I needed to restart the computer, for everything to comes back to normal. Later I found out, by double pressing CTRL key, the "CTRL Lock" unlocks...

    Best regards,

    Ricardo

    Hello Antonio

I have answer before to that key sequence, because since my last post till a couple of minutes ago, the Ctrl Lock issue has not happen.

Now I just restarted the computer because of a new Windows update and... what is happening with my keyboard?! I press Esc key, Win Start shows, ah, ok, double press Ctrl key, all back to normal...

By this I conclude that the "Left Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Right Shift, Ctrl, Alt" sequence did not work on my computer...

    Thanks

    Ricardo
