Uninstall or Change Program window in Win 10 Control Panel

Have Win 10 installed on Desktop CPU and keep it updated regularly.   Have a program that I would like / need to repair, but find that the Win 10 Control Panel window for Uninstall or Change a Program provides NO change or repair option (only has the Uninstall option).  When I click on "Uninstall/Change", "uninstall" is the only option provided (only can "remove program and all of its components", no "Change" and no "Repair" option).

Is there a way to get the "Change" or "Repair" options back in the column header or back as an option when one clicks on "Uninstall/Change" in the column header?  Or are "Change" and "Repair" options no longer available via Win 10 Control Panel?

    Hi,

Not all programs have a Repair or Change option.. Some can only be Uninstalled.. It is dependent upon how the program in question was coded..

Thanks, Time Lady.  My confusion comes from the fact that the Win 10 Control Panel screen for "Programs and Features" under the title & description states "Uninstall or change a program" and, in the description, says "To uninstall a program, select it from the list and click Uninstall, Change, or Repair".   Then, when one selects a program (e.g., in my case, Malwarebytes), the heading above the program list says "Uninstall/change"?

I have had problems since last Dec when I have run my Malwarebytes 4.1 scan, and was thinking perhaps a repair would be needed.  Tried downloading and running the Malwarebytes Support 1.6.1.784 file for repair, but had problems w/ that also.  The problem is that, when I have run Malwarebytes just before shutting the desktop down at night, the next morning boot-up starts up OK initially (have monitor logo on screen & then the windows logo on screen), but then the Win 10 startup hangs and I get a cursor arrow and an intermittent "wait" circle of dots on the screen that never progress any further.  The only way I can get my desktop back up and operating normally is to haul my TV downstairs (w/ its HDMI cable), totally shut down the desktop & remove ALL cables and allow it to sit for a minute or so, then reconnect all the cables and the HDMI w/ the TV screen and turn the entire system on again.  Then when the system boots up, I can see the entire process on the TV screen and, if the computer monitor doesn't come up automatically, do an ALT-P sequence to make sure that the Windows 10 screen option duplicates the screen on both the monitor and the TV (have found that sometimes the screen option has shifted to "Extend" mode).  Sometimes (but not always) I have been able get the system back without resorting to the above (via forcing a CPU shutdown by pressing the power button on the CPU for 10 sec or more).  But that doesn't always work, and then it's back to the other alternative.  I've decided the best solution probably is to uninstall Malwarebytes totally (& leave it off).

I do also have PCMatic installed on the machine, so that could be an issue as well (I find that I cannot manually do a disk defrag from Windows 10 Administrative Tools pull-down list and suspect PCMatic might be responsible for that).  Best Buy technicians have advised me that PCMatic is malware and that I should remove it from my desktop CPU.  But it does seem to speed things up operationally, so I haven't done that so far.

PCMatic is the probably cause, these type of programs can create more problems than they solve in my opinion. They may appear to speed things up due to closing certain apps/programs but these are automatically started up again by Windows when accessed.

PCMatic may have removed a vital entry in the registry which is causing the slowdown.

    Try this:

Right click on start & choose powershell with admin & enter:

    SFC /SCANNOW

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Yes that is shown under uninstall but not all programs have that feature.

Tbh I would use Revo uninstaller to remove the software & use Defender & Windows own inbuilt programs to clean the PC.

    Try Revo uninstaller free:

    https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstalle...

The uninstaller will run the program’s own uninstaller then allow the user to run a ‘scan for leftovers’, if the uninstall fails you can still scan for leftovers which will then be akin to a forced uninstall & will remove the program.

Has the program ever had the repair option?

Usually if there’s no repair/change option then the program doesn’t offer this. It cannot be added as it is a feature of the program & not Windows/Microsoft.

Which program is it? Usually to repair/change some programs you have to run the installer again.
