Windows 10 keeps downloading BIOS update that causes graphics intense applications to crash

I have a Dell Inspiron 5570 with an Intel i7-8550U CPU and Radeon R7 M460 GPU. I had been having problems with crashes whenever I did graphics intense tasks such as playing games. Eventually I found that downgrading the BIOS to version 1.1.8 fixed the problem and I could play games on max settings for hours.

I thought I would never have to deal with this problem again until Windows started downloading version 1.2.3 and forcing me to install it. Like before, this version causes the whole system to go unresponsive for a couple of seconds and then applications using the GPU to stop showing any graphics.

I want Windows to stop forcing this "upgrade" on me. I should be telling my computer what to do, not the other way around. Someone please tell me how tocompletely refuse it.

The only working fix for the issue is to downgrade the BIOS and keep it downgraded. Please tell me how to block Windows Update from installing it.

    Hi crispycat,

If an update you are being offered is causing system crashes or instability and Windows was operating correctly prior to that change, you can follow these instructions to prevent the unwanted driver or update from being installed:

Type “View Installed Updates” in the Search box and then click on View Installed Updates – Control Panel from the Search results.

To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall.

To temporarily prevent the update from being reinstalled until an updated fix is available, a troubleshooter is available that provides a user interface for hiding and showing Windows Updates and drivers for Windows 10. You can obtain and run the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter by downloading it from the Microsoft Download Center:

Download Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

When you click on the download link, you will be prompted to open or save wushowhide.diagcab.

    Download Open-Save-Cancel

Opening wushowhide.diagcab will launch the troubleshooter. Then click Next to proceed and follow the instructions provided by the troubleshooter to hide the problematic driver or update.

    Hope it will..Thank You.
