Windows Media Installation not selecting the desired USB drive.

I am currently waiting on parts to build my first computer, and I am currently on a Mac. Because of this, I needed to use a friend's PC to create the Windows 10 boot drive for me.

I checked that he met all of the system requirements, as well as most of the general troubleshooting, but the installation software wouldn't give us an option to choose which drive to install Windows on to. We were able to select the "download to USB" option, but it still tries to install on to his "C drive" (which is not USB). It then says that the C drive is full, thus stopping the installation process. The USB that we're using is 32gb, and was also reformatted on his PC.

The USB is also showing up as working on his computer, so I'm not sure why it's not letting us install to it.

Hi, EMikita. Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I am here to work with you on this issue.

When you open the Media Creator tool, you have to choose between "Upgrade this Pc now" and "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO) for another PC).

For what you want, you have to choose the second option (Create installation media). Then, after selecting the Language, Edition and Architecture, you'll have two options> "USB flash drive" and "ISO file". Choose the first one and you'll be able to select your USB flash drive.

You you're already doing that, then you probably don't have space in your hard drive for the Media Creator tool to download the ISO file before is moves it to the USB flash drive.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if that works for you, ok?
