I have a 2080s Black. I have been crashing during path of exile during different situations nothing specific in game is crashing me as far as I can figure out. After researching the exemption code error I came across a lot of possible reasons this was happening.

I have

  • Reinstalled windows 10
  • Reinstalled PoE
  • CCleaner removed all of nvidia files for gpu drivers. Had it correct any issues it found in the registry. Reinstalled fresh version of drivers without geforce experience and it continued to crash.

I repeated this process and I went back one version of the drivers.

  • Moved to non steam version of poe

    Hi

Thanks for the information. In that case I would reinstall the drivers with the 'clean' installation option.

If that doesn't work I'm afraid it may be trial and error until you find the graphics driver that works best. If it's crashing less with older drivers it suggests it is a driver / game issue. I've also checked the nVidia and Path of Exile forums and people are reporting errors there. Some saying disabling 'Engine Multithreading' and 'MSAA' fixed it but I believe this is a bug with the game / graphics drivers.

    Kind regards,

    Carl.

I also have a post in their game forums seeking help.

The latest drivers were causing the crash more frequently so I am the 2nd to last version currently.

    no overclocking is being done.

    Hi,

My name is Carl and I am an independent Windows 10 advisor.

As it's a third-party game it's very hard to diagnose if it's simply a bug in there game. The error though does point to nVidia issues. Are you on the latest graphics drivers? It may well be worth either updating or reverting to an older set as some drivers do introduce errors. Other suggestions are that you do a 'clean' installation (this can be selected when installing the drivers).

Are you running everything at stock? If you are overclocking anything, especially memory and GPU, then I would remove this just to see if it makes the game more stable.

    Kind regards,

    Carl.
