Happened to me today...after 4 hours of the typical nonsense trying to mess around with updates and uninstalls, I was able to see that the new update has caused windows to rename Bluetooth to unknown usb...under device manager I deleted it, powered completely off, unplugged everything, powered back on, back to device manager, bluetooth advanced, clicked all options for visibility, etc, then I was able to reconnect. Odd thing is that windows did not appear to reinstall anything. No idea. Just happy I can maybe meet my deadline now.

Oh wow! How did you figure that one out?! Anyway, thank you TaraHickman2, it worked!!!

And, I also tried all sorts of tricks suggested by the professionals, before finding this solution. Updating drivers, restarting in Safe mode, etc. etc. Just some info: Some of the suggested solutions was to open Windows settings, go to Bluetooth & other devices and turn bluetooth ON. Except, when I had this problem, there was no "ON" button available at all. Also, there was no link to "Other bluetooth options". Opening Control panel, and typing Bluetooth in the search window resulted in nothing, no links or results. It was as if bluetooth never existed on my laptop!

Thankfully, now everything is back to normal. Phew!

Hi all, I‘ve (also) performed ALL actions as described in this and other Microsoft support threads and similar ones e.g. on the Intel support forum but still no success unfortunately.... in summary:

I have the latest Windows 10 build 19042.685, installed latest intel Bluetooth driver for Intel NUC5i7RYB (v21.120.0.4), reset ánd updated BIOS too. Verified that the proper Bluetooth services are running, see screenshots below. Also did all the elevated command prompt scans (SFC/DISM -> all OK by the way). Uninstalled the Unknown USB device ánd all USB root hubs, rebooted ánd additionally also full shut downs  + disconnect and reconnect all USB's. Also performed the Power & Sleep options tweaks/work arounds, such as to UNtag "Fast Startup").

So all to no avail; when I now run the Bluetooth troubleshooter I still get the "Bluetooth is not available on this device... (etc)" and (hence) I also still don't see the Bluetooth adapter in Device manager (incl. hidden devices). Also still get the "Unknown USB device..." in Device manager. I (also) believe an automatic Windows update must have been the culprit as otherwise no changes were recently deployed on my Intel NUC.

Please Microsoft resolve this issue once and for all and make sure this does not reoccur.

    hi avihaybob,

the bluetooth option in device manager is called something like"wireless radio control" on my asus laptop. the option is under system devices. check if it is there. i read this in some forum of asus. i tried to reinstall that driver but also no help. then,i tried troubleshoot bluetooth option in windows update section. Bluetooth came on for the next boot up. but now again the icon is missing. again back to square one.

    feeling frustrated.

    Ho avihaybob

Have you tried downloading and installing the Bluetooth device drivers from the support page for your laptop on the Lenovo website?
