My current media player is 12.0.7601.24499, and it states it plays MP4 video, but it doesn't.....SO I checked on MS and they state 12.0.7601.1754 works for MS 7 with MP4.    SO, what is suggested, can you point me in the right direction, what to do, where to go... or is my system too outdated (I am not at this point in age, (mine [76] & systems gonna spend $$ on a major update to OS)******@gmail.com is ur best response to me.   THanks in advance.

Stick to 12.0.7601.24499 as it was the final version for Win 7 to my Knowledge.

It looks like you may be missing some Codecs to play these files.

A way around this is :

Download and install VLC Media Player.

    https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

    OR :

    Install K-Lite Basic Codec Pack.

    https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

( NOTE ) : watch the youtube clip Instructions for installation of K-Lite Basic and follow closely.

    • Take NOTE OFF when he points out Additional Software that may be installed.
    • Follow his Instructions closely and select the Decline Button when the Additional Software window shows up which may be Ad-Aware Web Companion by Lavasoft or other.
