How do I change the default view for Windows 10 File Explorer TO DETAILS?

Win 10 FILE EXPLORER LOVES ICONS. The COMMUNITY "SAYS" you can change the view to DETAILS but mine from when Windows was released prefers ICONS. ONE can SET to DETAILS but on the next opening of a folder, here come the huge ICON.

SURELY someone OR Microsoft must know how to actually make FILE EXPLORER LEAVE DETAILS ALONE as DEFAULT. .

ANYONE?

Hi, jagman55. Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I am here to work with you on this issue.

    Here's what you should do:

1)Open any folder and set its view to "Details" (which is the one you want, right?)

2)ON that same folder, click the tab "View" on the top, then "Options" at the far right and select "Change folder and search options".

3)On the windows "Folder options" that will show up, click the tab "View".

    4)Click "Apply to Folders"

    5)Click "Yes"

Now, the view you applied to that folder should be used as a default

I hope this helps! Please let me know if that works for you, ok?

    Open Windows File Explorer

    Open a folder of Files

On the View Ribbon (tab) set your view to Details and add/remove columns to suit your needs

Then at the end of the View Ribbon (tab) click 'Options'

On that Dialog, click on the View Tab

At the top of that tab, click 'Apply to folders' and confirm

    Then click Apply and OK

That will set the view for all folders of that type on your PC, Windows has a few different types of folders (Pictures, Music, Mixed Content . . etc) if you perform the above for each folder type, then all folders will automatically have the'Details' view by default . ..

I tested it with a large FOLDER that contained SUB FOLDERS.

"ICONS" AND "DETAILS" were intermixed. The first 5 sub-folders were "details", then the next 3 were "icons", on down the sub folders, a mixtures of "details" and "icons".
