Using Camera on Acer LAptop

I have a new Acer laptop and it is not allowing me to access the camera or microphone to make video calls. I have already gone to the settings - privacy and ticked on the permission, but still nothing. Is there anything else I can do?

    Nadine,

    I am not an expert but I have asus computer and I attached outside camera and that caused my laptop camera and mic not to work. My security options were also acting strange. I had to reinstall window without losing the data and program options.

    Ensure to back all you data before.

    After that it started working....

    Thank you very much Tony, in the end I uninstalled Skype and then reinstalled it and the camera started to work!
