Ever since I was forced to upgrade to Microsoft Edge without my consent, at the bottom of the screen when I click on the e, each  web site has a name which, if it is short enough, ends with "Profile 1".

Meanwhile, I'm still getting "Personal" after every web site description that is short enough to show it all.

    Hi Kramden

Edge Chromium, like the Chrome Browser will create a default user profile for your use, if you do not set up your own personal profile when you use Edge, that default profile is used to store your preferences, passwords.. .

In Edge, click the 3 dots at the top right and choose Settings

You should then be on that default Profile page . . .

    Hi Kramden

Open the Settings from those 3 dots, on the resulting Profile page, what is reported on that page with regards to the profile you are using in Edge?

Now it says "Personal" where it said "Profile 1".

    Hi Kramden

If you do not wish that user profile and not want it to sync, create a new blank profile and then delete that profile . . .

Alternatively, you can turn off that syncing option . . .
