Administrator approval required for installation

You need to make sure you're signed in with administrator account.

Microsoft needs to start penalising asanine responses like this where the responders clearly aren't even reading the question, but instead they seem to be rewarding this kind of behaviour. It's answers like these that make it impossible to find actual solutions on Microsoft's forums.

When I go to the Microsoft store and try to install a game (for example "Age of Empires Definitive Edition") I see a grayed out "Install" button.

I am logged in using an administrator account. What do I do now?

• Press Windows key + R and type wsreset.
• Right-click on the wsreset option and select Run as Administrator.
• Click Yes on the User Account Control prompt and wait while the system is resetting the Store cache.
• When Windows Store window opens, it means that the cache has been reset. Reopen Windows Store and try to download required files.

If the simplest way to fix 0x80073d0b error did not work, try to clear Windows Store cache in a more advanced way:

• Press Windows key + R to open run.
• Copy and paste the %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState in the run dialogue.
• Click OK to execute the command.
• Now find the folder named Cache. Right-click it and select Rename.
• Name the Cache folder as Cache.old.
• If you can’t find the Cache folder, create it. Right-click on an empty space and select New -> Folder.
• Name it Cache and close File Explorer.
• Now press Windows key + I and open Updates & Security.
• Select Troubleshoot from the left pane and find the Windows Store App.
• Click it and run a scan.

Yes you're right that I own the game, my difficulty is with trying to install it.

If I go to the Library as you suggest and click on "Install" I just get an error that looks like this:

I'm not sure if this is the same issue or whether I've now progressed to the next bug in the store.

That screenshot indicates you already own that game . . .

Log into the Store, then go to your Library

In your library, find that game and you should be able to install that game from there . . .
