I am trying to repair my windows 10 system image with ISO file downloaded from media creation tool. When I am trying to fix it, using DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:ESD:E**:\sources\install.esd:3** /LimitAccess though I am running windows 10 home single language, version 1909 and build info 10.0.18363.900. When I run this command, I get --

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Versions 10.0.18362.900

Image version 10.0.18363.900

error****0x800f081f

I think, it is happening because of version conflict.

How can fix this issue.

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Windows update

    Hi,

It would be wise to repair windows keeping everything.

Try doing a repair install. A repair Install keeps everything including Files and applications and reinstalls Windows.

The best and the easiest way is to use first method in the first article.

    >"I think, it is happening because of version conflict."

What ever caused those errors you have, there is no version conflict.

Windows 1909 is not 'new build', it's based on version v1903 build 18362 and it's changed to v1909, build 18363 by small Cumulative Update (Enablement package) which change version and build numbers.

Exactly same will happen with version 2004 when next Windows version 20H2 is released. Here is screenshot of Insider preview of 20H2.  Windows version 2004 is build 19041 and it's turned to 20H2 using Enablement package. Version is still showing base build 19041, but online image build number is turned to 19042.

If you compare those Version and Image Version for Insider preview build 20161, which is completely full build (not minor change made by Enablement package) you see that now those both are 20161.

    Ah I misunderstood, thanks.

What is the underlying issue that prompted you to run SFC/DISM?

    Hi Abhay,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

It looks like you have ver 1903 and you are trying to use an ISO of ver 1909. Is it correct?

What is the underlying issue that prompted you to run SFC/DISM?
