Wifi looks to be connected but no Internet access

I've been having an issue with my computer's wifi for almost a year now. Every few days, my computer will stop being able to connect to the internet. When diagnosing my network settings, nothing is ever found. It also does not say anything is wrong with my wifi, there is no "no internet access" note on my wifi, the bars are still full, everything looks normal, but it does not work. Google will only say that there was a network error when opening a new tab or trying to visit a website.

One more strange thing is that my internet is not completely cut when this happens. If this happens while I am on a Discord call, the call will not be cut or affected in any way, yet using the internet still does not work.

My wifi does not seem to be the issue, because it still works with other devices. I have also tried changing which wifi I am connected to, but the new connection also does not work.

The only temporary fix to the issue I have found is restarting my computer. Everything will work fine then for a few days, then it will stop working again.

What I have tried already:

-Googling my issue

-Changing wifi connection

-Restarting my computer

-Troubleshooting network problems

-Resetting Network settings

-Factory reset of my computer

If it matters at all I am running Windows 10 Home 1909 on an Alienware 17 R5

Thank you for any assistance!

    Hello Jack,

My Name is Chander and I am Independent Advisor and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I hope I can help you on your concern.

It looks to me the DNS server issue. Please try to change the DNS server to 4.2.2.2 or 1.1.1.1 and see if the issue persists?

    1. click start, search for run.
    2. in run box type ncpa.cpl.
    3. right click on wifi network adapter, click properties.
    4. Click on internet protocol version 4, click properties.
    5. select "use the following DNS server addresses" and type 4.2.2.2 and 1.1.1.1 in below DNS server boxes. click OK, click OK.

    Monitor the issue.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Hi JackYeager2,

if possible, connect with the computer directly to the router via a network cable and check if the problem recurs again.

Otherwise try to temporarily uninstall any third party Firewall / Antivirus or VPN software and try again. If the problem persists, uninstall any network optimization software: (SmartByte, Killer Network Manager, Rivet Dynamic Bandwidth Management, Dragon Bandwidth Controller etc.) Uninstall any utility from the pc manufacturer for network management. If necessary, try running and keeping a Clean Boot:

    Hi JackYeager2,

some Apps like Discord or SmartByte give priority to some services at the expense of web browsing.

Temporarily uninstall Discord and check in the following days if the problem recurs or not.
