Browsers not opening

Ever since I installed the most recent windows update, I haven't been able to open any internet browser except for Microsoft edge. I have tried this with both google chrome and opera and they will open for about a split second and then immediately close itself. I have tried restarting my pc twice and I have tried running them in administrator mode but nothing seems to be working.

Does not work at all.  Am going crazy with this.  Shame on Microsoft.

    Hello,

I'm your Independent Advisor for today. I know this can be frustrating, but don't worry. I'm here to figure this out for you.

Please start the PC in a clean boot state to check if there are other background apps which might be causing the issue:

    1. Right-click the Windows button > Select Run
    2. Type in "msconfig" without the quotes, then click OK.
    3. On the General tab, select Selective Startup. Then untick "Load startup items".
    4. On the Services tab, click "Hide all Microsoft services".
    5. Click "Disable all".
    6. On the Startup tab, click "Open Task Manager". A Task Manager window should open.
    7. Disable all startup items. You can also choose which startup items to disable, as certain devices and apps might not work properly if the startup item related to it is disabled. Some antivirus apps can't be disabled at startup through Task Manager.
    8. Go back to your System Configuration window.
    9. Click Apply > OK
    10. Click "Restart" when prompted.

Once the PC goes back up, check if it will resolve the issue. If so, kindly follow the steps under "How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot" in the link below to either disable or completely remove the faulty app/s:

    Please reply whatever the results.

I was unable to use Chrome or FF after the last Windows update.

I uninstalled and reinstalled them. After that, Chrome worked but FF didn't.

The only thing that worked for me was to disable Internet Explorer.  Then both Chrome and FF worked.

(Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off)

This is really an absurd situation. At least, for now, I have no need to use IE11.

I had this problem of Microsoft Edge not opening correctly. It was only appearing as a small window when you hover over the icon in the task bar. I found that the actual window was hidden to the right of the monitor but off screen. I right clicked on the small window and clicked on size which produced a cross hair target. I then held left click and dragged the full size window into view to the left side of the monitor. Once placed just left click to restore it to full screen. Hope this helps.
