    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand your concern. The Microsoft Bluetooth mouse does not require a passkey to connect to the computer. If you are prompted for a passkey, select No passkey. If you do not get the No Passkey option, try to enter 0000 as a passkey by using your keyboard and check if the mouse is connected to you system successfully.

For more information, I would suggest you to refer the article to Connect a Bluetooth device that does not have or require a transceiver that contains information which could prove itself useful to you.

    Hello,

AFAIK, the device should auto connect and not requires a PIN.

If this default functionality is broken after some update, you can try the System Restore to revert to date before update was installed:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options#section1

Or you can uninstall the update after which it is broken:

    https://www.kapilarya.com/how-to-uninstall-windows-updates-in-windows-10

Note, that once you uninstall the update, it may be re-detected by Windows 10. So you can skip it using Show or hide updates tool:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-window

    Hope this helps!

Last Windows 10 update has broken my ability to connect to Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Mouse 5000.

Your response was is correct that NO passkey should be required for Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Mouse 5000.

    Your instructions are totally useless.

    • The "device add" software DOES NOT OFFER options to select No passkey.
    • 0000 is not an accepted passkey.
    • the suggested article is useless for resolving the problem

Why does Microsoft continue releasing Windows updates that fail to perform as well as the version that they replace? Especially for stable devices.

Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Mouse 5000 is a mature stable product that continues to work my other devices, but NOT Windows 10 Home 1809 Build 17763.503.

Are mature Microsoft devices NOT part of the product verification test matrix?  If NOT, WHY NOT!

No wonder WIndows PC sales are slumping.
