Hi Rhaine, thanks for answering. I tried everything you said but it still doesn't work :(
Microsoft Mouse 5000 stopped working
The mouse stopped working, the blue light at the bottom stays on but the mouse isn't responding. I changed the batteries, pressed the reconnect button, pulled out the USB dongle and re-inserted it, reinstalled the drivers and I tried connecting it to another computer but nothing worked. Any ideas on how to fix it?

unfortunately this likely mean mouse or dongle fault.
The best way to check this is to find similar mouse near you but seems this is not easy task.

2020-07-20T23:04:24+00:00 Greetings,
I appreciate your time in getting back to this thread, if the steps did not work, no worries since this is an open forum, we can ask assistance from other community advisor about their feedback and suggestion with this issue.
If the mouse does not work with other device , I am assuming that the mouse is faulty, you can try to plug other mouse and check if will work.
Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.
With Warm Regards,

Please try the following steps below.

Click on "Control Panel" to open.
In the search box in the upper right corner of the Control Panel window, type "troubleshooter". ...
Under "Hardware and Sound", click "Configure a device". ...
Select "Next" to run the troubleshooter.
If issue persist,
Window key + X
Go to device manager
Look for Mice and pointing device
Right Click Update and choose "Browse computer for available driver"
Choose the old driver you have before.
Restart and check how it goes.
If all else fails try to perform system restore.
Perform system restore
-This process will take your computer settings back to an earlier point in time where computer is working fine. If there's any changes made on your computer that removes the service, system restore should be able to fix the issue for you. To perform system restore please follow the steps below:
- Open the run box by pressing the Windows key + R and type rstrui.exe
- Once system restore windows open, normally it will suggest a restore point (sometimes it doesn't) if it does, select the 2nd option and hit next
- Select your desired restore point date and time and hit next and finish.
I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.
Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.
With Warm Regards,
Rhaine C.
