Windows cannot find any photos on my iPhone

Please read this all!! Hello, hopefully someone can help! I was trying to import some photos from my iPhone XS to my Dell XPS (x64 Windows 10) and no matter what I do Windows won't recognize that there are photos and videos on my phone. **This problem occurs whether I go through the Photos app or from the This PC --> Device and Drivers --> iPhone import pictures and videos. It cannot find my photos.**If you can help I would greatly appreciate it!

Below is what I have tried, although it may be more. I have tried a lot and didn't write it all down:

  1. Restarting phone and computer
  2. Uninstall Microsoft iTunes (apparently you cannot do backups on that one) and install iTunes from Apple and then update it
  3. Update my computer's drivers
  4. Checked and Apple drivers are updated
  5. iPhone is updated
  6. Used different USB ports and cables
  7. Reset location and privacy --> I make sure to "Trust" computer
  8. I use MalwareBytes so I ran a full security scan
  9. Hardware and Device Diagnostic said "Hardware changes might not have been detected --> fixed"
  10. Tried with Autoplay both on and off for importing photos (was not able to set up autoplay to windows using cmd, so only did to photos)

Initially, my phone was being found but now it is not being recognized either. I don't know what else to do. Other relevant information:

  • My phone is unlocked and remains unlocked
  • I initially updated the USB driver, but now when I look there isn't an Apple Mobile Device USB

    Hello Detiz,

Can you please try this solution:

    Go to you’re iPhones settings,

scroll down to - Photos -

scroll down to - TRANSFER TO MAC OR PC - which most likely is set to - Automatic - all you have to do is switch it to - Keep Originals

and that should solve the problem.

To be safe, close the apps you have running by pressing the home button twice and swiping up, then plug in your iPhone cord to the USB of your PC, allow your phone to trust the computer, and choose to import your photos to computer.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Keep safe always.

    Sincerely,

    Antonio

    Hello Detiz,

I am Antonio, a Microsoft Community independent advisor, a Windows 10 and Microsoft office user like you. I hope I can help you on your concern.

Please kindly refer to the link below:

    Another solution to try:

An unstable connection between your iOS device and your Windows 10 computer is one of the possible reasons why you cannot see the photos from your iPhone when connected to your PC. To troubleshoot the issue, we suggest reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device USB driver by following the steps below:

1.Disconnect your device from the computer.

2.Reconnect your device. If iTunes opens, close it.

3.Press the Windows and R key on your keyboard to open the Run command.

    In the Run window, enter:

    %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

    4.Click OK.

5.Right-click on the usbaapl64.inf or usbaapl.inf file and select Install.

You might see other files that start with usbaapl64 or usbaapl. Make sure to install the file that ends in .inf. If you’re not sure which file to install, right-click a blank area in the File Explorer Window, click View, then click Details to find the correct file type. You want to install the Setup Information file.

7.Disconnect your device from your computer, then restart your computer.

8.Reconnect your device and open iTunes.

Once done with the steps, check if you still have issues viewing/importing photos from your iPhone.

You're response is highly appreciated. Please let me know if the issue is fixed, if not, we will find another way.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Keep safe always.

    Sincerely,

    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,

I apologize if I was not clear enough in my first response, but I have already tried three separate cables and have tried them in every port that I have.

Adding everything I do in the hopes that I help someone. I also restarted the apple mobile device service with no luck: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203188?&cid=acs::fm-itunes_HT203188-307078

I now get code error E00002225 instead of "it couldn't find any photos"

    Hello Antonio,

Thank you for your help. I actually have already gone through everything on that first link. In regards to the Apple Mobile USB driver, I get stuck on step 5. In the beginning, I had also updated the USB driver but I seem to be having issues now. On step 5, I cannot see the files you specified. View --> Details is already selected and when I click it again nothing happens.

I tried to get to this through Device Manager> Universal Serial Bus controllers>Update Driver Software for Apple Mobile Device and I saw it for a second and then it disappeared. My device manager seems to keep expanding the network adapters section even when I unexpand it and keeps "refreshing" for lack of a better word. I also did the below step:

Follow the steps to Run DISM Commands:

    1. Press Windows + x on your keyboard.
    2. Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command Prompt .
    3. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

No corruption was detected and I restarted my computer with the same problem. Honestly, everything I do seems to make it worse. Now my phone is only occasionally popping up on File Explorer where it used to always.

Also did SFC scan and there were not integrity violations: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system
