William, thanks for your reply.  I followed your instructions,  but unfortunately, there wasn't a check mark in the "Show me the Windows welcome experience".

This is happening in Google Chrome, not Windows Edge.  I have both installed in my pc.  I only use Edge for financial functions like online banking, etc.  I use Chrome for all other online activities like news, shopping, and social apps.  I prefer to keep them separate.  My only problem is the continuous popup message banner in Chrome regarding

The new browser recommended by Microsoft is here".

Ah, OK, I understand. If you visit a Microsoft site in Google Chrome, you will be prompted by this message. It is not a browser or OS setting that you can toggle on or off, but web page itself firing when it reads your browser string. Google Chrome does this as well if you visit there site and do not have Chrome set as the default. It is nuisance, I agree, but you, me and everyone else are officially stuck in the middle of the Google-MS browser wars.

However, you should be able to mitigate this as long as your are not clearing your browser history each time you close Chrome and select the option to dismiss the banner when it pops up.
