my printer is printing larger font, even in print to pdf

About a week ago, my printer started printing things about 135%, which means it cuts off the right edge  of everything I print.  This is NOT a printer SCALING problem...if I choose a smaller scaling in the print dialog, it makes everything smaller (zooms out), but still cuts off the right side of the print file.  This phenomenon even applies in "Microsoft Print to PDF" of all things.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling my printer (Canon MX922 Series) numerous times, and also the print to PDF driver.  Nothing changes.  I have tried "Restore default font settings" to no avail...it just goes away somewhere and never returns, with no effect.

I hope someone can tell me what's going on here.  This was a sudden onset, and I have not knowingly updated anything recently.  I could also add that I have been able to print files using my wife's Apple MacBook with no such printing anomalies (same printer, also Wi-Fi connected).

Thanks for any possible help!

I just sincerely hope someone additional will step up to this question.  I am not imagining this!

It seems I am not getting my problem description detailed enough, so herein I will attempt to explain further, with pictures.  Please bear with me...I know this will be long, but I am pretty desperate to be able to print again!

First of all, here is the file I am trying to print for testing purposes:

Notice that big word Receipt to the right.

and here is my usual print dialog:

    and my usual print preferences:

Notice I always use normal size, no scaling or other page layout specifications.  And here is my other default print specifications:

Notice that I am specifying preview before printing.  And here is what it looks like when I print:

What I see is a print file which is noticeably enlarged--the typeface is larger (like the image is "zoomed in"  and the right side is truncated, off the edge of the paper, cut off!  This is what is happening to almost every page I try to print, and I don't know why!

Just for comparison, I tried scaling the page down to 75%, and here is what I see:

Notice that the typeface is now smaller, which should fit the entire page on the paper, but the right side is still cut off.  So this is NOT a scaling issue, but some kind of print formatting error.

Finally, I tried to print to a PDF file, and here is what I get, as displayed by Acrobat reader:

Even printing to a PDF file, the formatting is cutting off the right side.

Sorry for the huge submission (if it even goes through), but I think I have illustrated my frustrating experience with printing.  This has never happened before, and I have been using this printer for years.  I have also researched everything I can find regarding the printer and its drivers.  I don't know what else to do....

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Strangely, the problem has gone away!  Best guess is that a recent Microsoft update must have done it, since neither I nor anyone else could identify the cause, much less fix it.

    Done, finis, exit....

    Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Volunteer. I’m so glad assisting you today. Let us work together to sort this out.

Please try the following recommendation below.

Before printing the file , please try to check the scale settings in the printer.

If issue persist.Change the Settings of Print Preview:

Before printing the page, go to File menu, click Print preview and select a size setting other than "Shrink to fit." For most pages, 100% should work.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    With Warm Regards,

    Rhaine C.

Once the print file gets to the point of displaying print preview, the right side has already been cut off, and reducing the size setting is irrelevant at that point.

No, it's in the formatting for print that something is going wrong.  Remember I said this happens to the PDF file formatted, also.  Once you get to that point, the truncating has already been done.  No amount of playing with the size settings at the output has any bearing on it.

Rhaine, I am reasonably sure that print layout "scaling" has no corrective effect on this problem.  Note that I said the same formatting anomaly occurs when I try to print to pdf--the typeface is "zoomed in" and cuts off the right side of the print file.

In  regard to "scaling"--I have tried scaling the print layout DOWN, so that the printed file is wholly on the paper.  The effect is indeed to "zoom in" as expected, but the right side of the print file is still truncated.  I usually keep the print layout set to "normal" in all these test prints.

I have repeatedly tested with various scaling values, and also with each of the other options.  In every case the typeface is expanded ("zoomed," if you will) to something like 135% of normal, forcing the right side of the print file to be "off the paper" and thus truncated.  If I knew how, I would attach some screen shots and output file examples to this conversation....

I believe I said also, that this does NOT happen when I print the file via Apple MacBook.  Therefore, I do not believe that the printer itself is at fault.  In any event, the printer has no permanently stored capability to affect the font used to  print.

I am sure this is some kind of problem with the printer driver, but could be wrong, of course.  The printer is a Canon MX922, and has been in use for several years, connected via wireless to my (home-grown) Windows 10 system, as well as two iPads and the Apple MacBook.

I have deleted and recreated the printer driver for this printer a number of times, with no effect.  I have also deleted and recreated the print to PDF driver, with no effect--even PDF files thus created are "zoomed in" and truncated on the right.

I am really desperate to find a fix for this problem, since I really cannot print anything now.  Thanks for your response.

(I might mention that this problem began last Sunday, when my wife printed a file with scaling set to 135% on her Apple MacBook to our shared printer.  This is something she does every week, and nothing has happened like this until Sunday a week ago, and ever since, my printing has been affected as described.  Admittedly, this is probably a strange coincidence, and maybe has nothing to do with the problem.)
