    Hi Kevin!

My computer is around 1-2 years old. I'm on Google Chrome so I skipped the first step.

I tried running a clean boot but didn't seem to do much. I also noticed that one of my applications (Malwarebytes) wouldn't be disabled? Probably nothing. I still have issues with opening applications, having processes but no applications, or just applications that start to not respond if I do minimal activity

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for those suggestions. I ran the commands, the first one gave me a log while the other 3 ran and did their job pretty quickly. However, I am still facing the same issue.

    Hi briehn-

Thank you for your kind reply and i do apologize it didn't work. How old is your computer by the way ?

Lets turn off your accelerated graphics on your computer.

    Turn off Accelerated Graphics

Open Internet Explorer > Internet Options > Check Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering, to turn off Accelerated Graphics. Then, you can check if it helps.

Also lets perform cleanboot on the device.

Clean Boot State which is used to diagnose and troubleshoot advanced Windows problems. If your computer or program is not starting normally, or if you receive errors when you start the computer that you cannot identify, you could consider performing a “clean boot.”

type msconfig in start search and hit Enter to open the System Configuration Utility.

Click the General tab, and then click Selective Startup. Clear the Load Startup Items check box, and ensure that Load System Services and Use Original boot configuration are checked.

Click the Services tab. Select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. Now click Disable all.

Click Apply/OK and restart the computer. This will put Windows into a Clean Boot State.

If the clean boot helped you fix the error, fine! Else in the General tab, also click to clear the Load System Services check box, click Apply/OK and restart.

Hope this will help. Have a blessed day!

    Thanks.

    Hi briehn-

I'm Kevin B. Independent advisor and a Windows 10 user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience about your applications, let me help you with this .

When did the issue happened ?

Have you made any changes before the issue happened or is it working properly before ?

try to run some scan on your computer to fix the issue.

Please try the followings steps below.

    1. Windows Key + R
    2. Type CMD right click and run as administrator.
    3. Copy and paste each command below, you need to do it one at a time until

    finishes scanning.

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Quick note: While the command is running, it's expected to see the process stuck at 20 or 40 percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.

Once you complete the steps, the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool will connect to the Windows Update servers to download and replace any damaged files in the local image for Windows 10 as necessary.

With regards on your license that came from Amazon you might want to chat with Microsoft support to check the activation status of your product key.
