[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

    Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards,

Please can you provide a feedback link to your feedback on the hub?

Me or Sumit will channel your feedback ticket, along with everyone else's.

[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

I'm on build 1903, and the above update which involved a more integrated Edge browser totally destroyed performance on my PC. I don't use Edge, never have and never want to. Forcing it on your OS users produces nightmares for we who are held hostage by it. What I would like from Microsoft is a tool to enable rollback of this update, and a non-Edge update or a way to remove it entirely. This user thread refers: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_10-update/windows-update-installing-the-new-edge-browser/31b8d053-8256-41b9-9c26-f9faaaa4e0ae?messageId=44274dbd-fa5f-4339-8a83-d8aa86299e6e

    Their response:

Thanks for reaching out about this, and sorry to hear that your PC isn't performing as quickly as you'd expect. We've made a number of improvements to performance, however, if you're up to date and still experiencing issues, please take a moment to open Task Manager and check if there is anything using unexpectedly high system resources. If there is, please take a short trace while doing nothing except watching the resource usage in Task Manager.

If you can't see anything unexpected in Task Manager, please collect a short trace showcasing a particular action that your computer is performing slowly.

There are details here on how to collect a trace in the capture mode section if you need them: https://insider.windows.com/en-us/how-to-feedback/

When you share the trace, submit it with a comment explaining what's in the trace, and we'll investigate

I have not yet and wasn't planning to send any more information to them than I already have. It's clear to me that what is wrong is their recent updates to force us into more use of Edge. My browser choice is Opera or Firefox, but both of these have been slowed to a crawl by the recent update and loading/operation of every other program (or "app" as we must now call them) hangs (not responding message is very common) including MS Office 2010 programs, Adobe Digital Editions, Thunderbird email...the list goes on.

Thanks for forwarding anything on. I hope there are enough of us complaining to get them to actually do something about this.
