Intel(R) Management Engine Interface - Windows 10 Education N

Good Afternoon All,

I hope you are all well during lockdown.

I have been advised by my Avast Security (with free driver scan) that my Intel Management Engine Interface needs updating.

Anyone any idea how I do this (it's a paid service via Avast) or if it is indeed recommended...this new driver release date is from 2016.

My system says it has the latest drivers installed:

I have accessed the Intel website, installed their driver check software but this brings no results: https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/support/products/34227/software/chipset-software/intel-management-engine.html

    Hi JP

That driver updater on Avast, is to be honest, not the best advice to take when it comes to drivers, they make good security software, but that driver updater, like all driver updaters are not needed with Windows 10

Windows 10 updates will keep your drivers up to date, and as you point out the Intel software reported your Intel IME did not need to be updated . . .

Go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website, then on that page, check if they provide an updated version of Intel IME and if not, there is no update required on your PC . . .

    Hi JP

If your have been experiencing system crashes, check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes . . .

    Open Windows File Explorer

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip those up

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.), then choose to share those and get a share link

Then post the link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

    Many thanks for you response,

I have been to the Intel download centre and cannot located an update for my system, but thanks for your suggestion.

I have also run a diagnostic tool, as a test on the processor...all of which came back passed.  I still have crashing issues in my other posts :(

    Regards

    JP

    Hi,

We recommend updating from the manufacturer as a first step as they may have customizations. Avast is likely asking you to update from the Intel website.
