Best way to share files (small business)

HI folks, newbie here

We have a small business of approx 8 or so office workers. We all have one drive.

But what I want to know is, without a physical server etc, what is our best way of being able to access, share and edit files from a central location.

I've read about SharePoint and just wondering if this will tick my boxes

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

Andy

No unfortunately that method would not work from home, unless you also implemented a VPN solution. Which is probably a bit completed for your use case.

Taking that into account, I would say Sharepoint is probably your best option, especially if you already have or are considering an office 365 subscription.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Elise,

    Thanks for your response

I have a question though, will this method work if we are working from home using separate network connections?

In the office we will be using the same wifi, but then if we needed to work from home we would be using a different wifi connection

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi Elise,

    Thanks for the speedy reply

Is there any way you could expand on the one pc acting as a server option? How would I go about this?

    Thanks for your help

Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

There are a few ways you can do this, as you say Sharepoint is certainly one way to do it.

Alternative you can setup a file share on one of the PC, acting as a server of sorts.

Lastly you could purchase a NAS (network attached storage) device, which is like a mini server solely for sharing files.

    Hope that helps.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
