My Wired internet disconnects randomly for a few seconds but my wireless connection on my other devices is fine.

The problem is in the title. My Ethernet connection has been dropping for about a few weeks now, and it also affects one of the other computer that is wired as well. Wireless has been running smoothly with no drops in connection. I've also talked with my isp and they sent a technician out. That technician looked at our box and said that the cable was pretty old and replaced it, and the drops in connections still happen.

  • Uninstall/Reinstall my network card with the latest drivers
  • Reset modem
  • Reset router
  • Flush the DNS
  • Reset the winsock
  • Move the wires around on the switch
  • Changed the power setting so that Windows cannot turn off the network card
  • I've messed with the advanced settings turning off EEE, green Ethernet and Ethernet lite.
  • I've purchased a new usb to ethernet which still didn't work.
  • I made a fresh install of windows.

    Hi JustinLi1234,

    1. Is it a desktop PC or a laptop?
    2. What version of Windows 10 and build are you running?
    3. Is the PC connected directly to the router or to the ethernet wall socket or via a hub / switch or other?

Temporarily disconnect from the network all other devices, wired and wireless, connect only with the PC, temporarily disconnect any type of device from the PC: UPS, USB / Ethernet Hub, Dock Station, Desk Hub or Bluetooth devices, then check if the disconnections are still present or not.

To find out the version and build of Windows 10, type winver in the search box.

Before doing other tests, it is necessary to connect the PC directly to a LAN port of the router, temporarily disconnecting the Network Hub, and check if the PC works properly without disconnections.

Hey thanks for taking the time to respond.

    First it's a desktop PC.

Running the latest build of windows 10 and I'm on windows home.

I'm connected via a wall socket and the socket is ran through to a network switch hub.

One more thing I did was change the DNS settings to openDNS.
