I am faced with USB drive is not accessible, a device which does not exist was specified

The way I corrected this issue was to open the HDD's properties, go to the security tab, click on the advanced button, change ownership to yourself, give yourself full access, click ok, make sure you have full access on the General tab within the properties as well. then tah dah issue is gone forever...

I have tried the steps above, but I didn't find any 'security' tab on my usb drive shown to be me as inaccessible.

I also run CHKDSK Command:

What I have done with my USB drive before I am having this issue are as follows:

  1. I I plugged it into  the Windows 10 laptop, and copied some files onto it.(Windows 7 desktop isn't mine)
  2. I then plugged it into the Windows 7 desktop, and I printed some files.
  3. I then removed it from the Windows 7 desktop without 'safely removing it'.
  4. Whenever I am now plugging it into  my Windows 10 laptop, I see this error.

I think it is the drive itself which is having an issue since I tried to plug it into other ports, but it is not now working.

I tried plugging other usb drives to my laptop's port, and they are all detected well by Windows 10.

    Seems the Philips is dead. You may try to use USB recovery tools, sometimes they may help to recover USB drive functionality but not data/

    As for Kingston you need to restore files or folders to another drive. is it possible?

    I've eventually found a solution to my Kingston 3.0/2.0 USB flash drive , which shows me this error "You need to format the disk in drive H: before you can use it"  whenever being plugged into any port of my laptop.

    The troubleshooting is as follows:

    You can try to fix the problems by using the Windows chkdsk function. Click Start, select Run and enter “chkdsk drive_letter :/f” (quotes not included). Tab Enter to start the disk check process. You can also try chkdsk /r, which includes the functions of chkdsk /f. It also marks the bad sectors so that these bad sectors will not be used again, which effectively removes the bad sectors from the system.

    So, now my Kingston flash drive is working fine as it was before, and all my data is there. :)

    After the fixing, when running the command again, there are no errors found:

    In my opinion DMDE is much more functional then Recuva.

    I think it's not a matter of Recuva being little more functional than

    DMDE. However, it is a matter of my flash drives being unrecognized by Recuva.

    Which might be done by any other apps.

    Seems the drive is faulty. Please use third party tools such as DMDE or Recuva in attempts to recover some data.

    My device having the issue is a removal flash drive, and isn't a hard disk drive.
