I received a similar email and I called the number to cancel any payment and block my card from being used again.  SUPPOSEDLY! I only gave them my email address, which they already had and they said a fraudulent charges was being initiated from Russia and/or Germany.

They wanted me to go to a website and download something and that is when I refused.  Btw, the voice on the phone sounded like he was from Russia.  I am sure it was just a scam but I am a little worried about them being able to charge my account $499.99.

    Any suggestions?

I have been checking my credit card statement, and no charges have been seen on it and I have recieved at least 4 emails stating they have charged the 499.00 I also tried to spoof microsoft and they refused to accept the spoof request, I believe Microsoft needs to followup on all the scams from this one and that email will be cancelled in November and other scare tactics from scamers come on Microsoft help your customers with followup with scamers and let us know what you are doing to smash them.

Your first clue in all of this is the email address of the solicitor. The one I got was from Microsoft Team < amyaslkcbradley-at-gmail.com>. Obviously NOT a Microsoft email address. Unless they have your cc info, they can't charge anything by using your email address. Just add the address to your "Blocked" list as they are just phishing for additional info to get your identity. If you did send your cc info, then that's when you should take action and contact your cc companies.

Just practical and not legal or tech advise... ;)

I love the official microsoft gmail address. Also love the "Auto Renewal" as Payment Method. Is there a way to auto-spam Microsoft Team <******@gmail.com>?

I had the same email and I do not remember even ordering it -the windows defender threat protection coverage. How do I stop this. I’ve learned not to call phone numbers because they try and take control of your computer which is not good. Suggestions?
