Hi Mudasir. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

It isn't the torrent client that's so dangerous, it's the torrents themselves which are often riddled with malware, adware or spyware. This is because of torrents being in part a pirates market where anything goes.

So if you download anything with a torrent client, be sure to immediately scan it with the most powerful free scanner out there Malwarebyes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/. Enable Root Kit scanning in it's Scan Settings, once installed you can also turn off it's Real Time Protection since Defender is enough, so it's only needed for it's scanner. It will also be on your right click menu to easily scan any downloads on the spot.

If you download a lot of torrents I'd also install and run scans with AdwCleaner from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcle... which covers some adware that Malwarebytes doesn't.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

File sharing networks/torrent sites are thoroughly infested with malware according to security firm Norman ASA and many of them are unsafe to visit or use. The reason for this is that file sharing relies on its members giving and gaining unfettered access to computers across the P2P network. This practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft, system infection and remote access exploit by attackers who can take control of your computer without your knowledge.

Please read File Sharing, Torrents, and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Programs are a Security Risk.

    Hi Mudasir,

Windows Defender in W10 v2004, defaults to detecting PUPS )PUA) now.

It did not do that before. That is why you are now being made aware, that it is a PUP.

Since you have never been troubled by it before, it is surely up to you to decide whether

    to keep it or not.

You should be aware, that if you decide to delete it, Windows Defender will continue

to alert you of its presence anyway, unless you delete its record from Windows Defender

Protection History too. Please see the link for instructions on how to accomplish that.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/all/windows-defender-identifies-the-same-pup-as-a/63f17794-3815-4784-b9cd-c6059c8e0828

If you decide to keep it, you will need to turn "OFF" the default in Windows Defender, for

the detection of PUPS. In settings, >> "Apps & Browser Control">  "Reputation-based

protection settings.  It will still be necessary to delete the record in Protection History,

to prevent notifications, of the Pup. Even though you will no longer detect them.

    Good luck,  Glen
