I have tried all available resolutions but none have worked. The screen was accidently shrunk using keyboard and I cannot rectify this. There are black blocks on either side of computer screen and I need to widen it.

    Hi Lorraine

The only thing that can change the size/shape of the image on your screen is the Aspect Ratio setting or the settings on the menu on your monitor all other settings will just change the sizeof objects on your screen. . .

Check the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, it may be there is a function on one of those that your partner accidentally pressed

    Hi Lorraine

Okay, on your monitor, on the bottom or side, is there a menu button, that will bring up the on-screen controls, in there, look for the autofit or horizontal/vertical scaling settings . . .

    Hi Lorraine

Are you using a laptop or a PC with a separate monitor?

    1

Right click your Desktop, from the resulting menu, do you see the control panel for your video card?

If so, open that and look for an Aspect Ratio setting, then try each of the different options to see which one fills your screen

If that control center is not available by right clicking your desktop,, check for that in the system tray

If you are using a PC with a separate monitor, then on your monitor is a menu button, press that and on the on-screen controls look for an Auto Fit setting or horizontal and vertical scaling . . .
