Sorry that the suggestion did not work.

I found a Microsoft thread for a similar issue. Please try the suggestion provided by a user HeikkiLaukkanen and check if it works. Copying his comments:

For those on Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 YOU NEED TO TURN OFF SECURE BOOT OR YOU CANNOT TURN OFF DEP!

once you have turned off DEP you can then turn Secure boot back on again and you will not have DEP

Be sure to disable the Secure Boot Policy

Go to Settings / Computer Settings / General / Advance Start-Up's Restart Now / Troubleshoot / Advanced Options / UEFI Firmware Settings / Restart / Computer Setup / Security / Secure Boot Config / Accept / Secure Boot / *click to disable* / File / Save Changes & Exit

I didn't work, I followed the instructions that you provided. Also all the permissions that were in the system section, it didn't allow me to untick allow but it let me tick deny. Any other ways? To switch of DEP for the program, I need to be able to select the option "turn on DEP for all pogroms and services except for those I select" option so I can choose the program that I don't want DEP for. I think I might need to change my admin settings or something. Just making sure you know exactly what I want to do.

    Hi Ninja,

My name is Jocelyn, an independent advisor and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

I would suggest you allow full Permission to the folder for the program file you are trying to edit. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click that file or folder and choose Properties.
    2. Click the Security tab and click the Advanced button.
    3. In the Advanced Security Settings window, on the right-side of Owner, click the link that says Change.
    4. In the next window, type "Everyone" without a quote under the Enter the object name to select and then click OK.
    5. Then click Apply and OK again in the previous window.
    6. Back on the Security tab, click the Edit button.
    7. In the Permission for SYSTEM window, put a checkmark for all to Allow permission.

Click Apply and OK to save changes.

Then try to edit DEP settings again.

Let us know how it turns out.

    Best,

    Jocelyn
