The application EPICGAMESLAUNCHER.EXE in the programs folder is shown on the activity of the child account but is not listed in the "Apps and Game Limits" section so I am unable to limit or block it using Microsoft Family Safety.

I am unable to block Epic Game Launcher as it doe not get listed under apps and games tab. It is a problem as I find it is being issd during school hours by my kid. Microsoft really needs to find a way to get this listed under Apps and Games so it can be blocked.

It looks like this is also the situation for me.  (I believe when kgilding said "Sorry, The game is listed now. " they were talking about The Escapists, not EPICGAMESLAUNCHER.exe)  There seems to be no way to block Epic Games Launcher, which as an installer allows any new game in its library to be installed, which as a new installation has no time limit until I log back on and add the newly-installed game, whatever it is, to the list.

We need to be able to limit or block the installer app.

    Thank you for your help,

As a work-around until this gets fixed, you can block the Epic Games Launcher using Windows Security permissions in Windows 10. Note:  This solution assumes that your child does not have Administrator rights, only User rights.

    1.  In File Manager, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games.

    2.  Right Click on the Launcher folder.  Click Properties.

    3.  Click the Security tab, then click Advanced.

    4.  Click Change Permissions.  Enter your Administrator password.

    5.  Click Disable Inheritance.

    6.  Click Convert inherited permissions into explicit permissions on this object.

    7.  Click on the row that includes Users, and then click Remove.

    8.  Click OK, then click OK again.

Now, only administrators can access this folder.

If the Epic Games Launcher is already running, you will need to stop it, after which a non-administrator should not be able to restart it.

    To undo the above changes:

    1.  In File Manager, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games.

    2.  Right Click on the Launcher folder.  Click Properties.

    3.  Click the Security tab, then click Advanced.

    4.  Click Continue.  Enter your Administrator password.

    4.  Click Enable Inheritance.

    5.  Click OK, then click OK again.

Good day! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and also a Microsoft/Windows user like you and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that you are unable to block the Epic Games launcher.

Since, you are seeing it listed under the activity, have you tried blocking it from there?

You can also look for which game is particularly being played like Fortnite so that you can block the specific game that is being played.

    Regards,

    Paul R.
