Can't get a bootable SD card to work. (Read post.)

So recently I bought a microSD card and put it into my computer with an adapter. Everything seems to be fine, but the thing I bought it for isn't working. I changed the boot list and legacy boot list so it would boot and then installed Windows 10 onto it with Media Creation Tool ISO through multiple different apps. WinToUSB, AOMEI, and Rufus. But none of it seemed to boot. No corrupted files, the EFI was there. And I hope it isn't the SD card I was using. I even paused the startup to check for boot devices, and it wasn't there.

Can anyone help with this?

Computer: Windows 10 Build 2004, 238GB, HP laptop.

SD Card: MicroSD, 128GB, Samsung EVO Select, read up to 100 MB/s, write up to 90 MB/s. Flash drive came and everything seems to be working as expected.

The computer seemed to not recognize the SD adapter as a bootable drive.

Does BIOS recognize your SD Card when you install it?

While in BIOS can you boot directly from the SD Card if it is recognized by clicking on the SD Card in BIOS?

If Bios doesn't recognize the SD Card or show it installed that is probably why it won't boot up on that device.

Do you have the latest BIOS version installed for your Motherboard?

Thank you. I'll try that and let you know if it works or not.

Oh, and it doesn't say anything about WinPE but the log said  "extract .wim image file", so I can't tell if it's working.

I understand now. You are trying to Dual Boot your computer using the SD Card as your Windows Drive.

I do know that if you install another Windows to another internal or external Drive that Windows will create a Dual Boot Menu automatically.

When you boot up the Dual Boot menu comes up asking you which Windows you want to boot up to.

Seem like your computer doesn't see the Windows in your SD Card thus not creating a Dual Boot Menu.

Found this article from DISKPART explaining how you can use AOMEI Partition Asst. to install Windows on your SD Card and be recognized by your computer: Boot From SD Card.

Let me know if it fixes your problem with Dual Boot from your SD Card.

Your computer doesn't have a USB or DVD Drive?

Those are the two best ways to install Windows 10.

I downloaded the Windows.iso file using the creation tool and then used to to make a USB Flash drive and to burn a DVD.

Then in BIOS I made my DVD burner the first Boot up device to check and my C: drive as the second Boot up device.

With my newly burnt Windows Installation DVD in my DVD Burner when I boot up and checks my DVD drive first. I then hit any key on my keyboard to load whatever I have on my DVD which is my Windows installation files.

Or you can burn a USB Flashdrive (8 GB) with Windows files on it and use that as your first Boot device to check when booting up.

I like using an old Windows 7 program called "Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool" which works fine in Windows 10.
