Bowers and Wilkins PX Headphones connecting to Windows 10

Aloha

Spotted a few people were struggling to connect their B&W PX Headphones to their Windows 10 machines via Bluetooth and all the question threads are locked so I cannot add this as a potential solution.

I've two MS Windows 10 laptops, both could pair the headphones but recognised them as a generic device and not as a pair of headphones.  If this is the case what I've found worked for me was heading to the B&W website, then their support section.

https://www.bowerswilkins.com/en-gb/support/headphones

Select their PX headphone, in their Software and Firmware section is a Bluetooth Utility which is intended to allow the headphones to update their firmware from a PC rather than from a phone.... download, install and run that utility.

Run the B&W bluetooth utility on your PC, then connect your headphones via the supplied USB cable and it will recognise that they're USB connected PX Headphones, update the firmware if you need to.

Once you've seen the message pop up in the task bar saying that the PX headphones have been successfully been installed and everything is updated, then you can remove the cable and close the update app.

When you add them as normal through the Bluetooth panel they appeared as headphones now when I added them rather than as a generic device and I hope they do for you too.

Given that we're in lockdown and I'm using MS Teams more than ever I might as well use a decent pair of headphones, hope this helps someone.

Good luck!

H

I was dealing with this problem for months. The trick is to do the factory reset on the PX using the app. Remove any previously connected PX devices on your Windows 10 machine, then put the PX in pairing mode. Start pairing on the Windows 10 machine and wait until the PX with headphones icon appears. Ignore the other PX device that appears first.

If the PX with headphones icon doesn't appear, maybe try again?

No, you didn't miss a step.  the Bowers and Wilkins PX headphones work great in Apple and Android systems, but they fail miserably in Windows 10.  I have been trying for a few days to get them to connect to Win10, fail.

One would think that a company that charges PREMIUM for their product would not have these issues.  I'm throwing mine in the trash and going back to Bose.  At least they connect and are usable.  Then I'm going to the internet to let everyone know how miserably difficult they are to connect.

This did not work for me.  The headphones still appear in the bluetooth menu as an "other" device - not headphones...

Are there any other ideas or solutions out there?

Hi. I had the same problem and it didn't work for me too. But..

Remove the B&W from your pc Bluetooth.

    Then factory reset the device:

    https://factory-reset.com/wiki/PX7#:~:text=Make%20sure%20the%20PX7%20is,to%20pair%20to%20a%20device.

Then Get the wired connection for the B&W utility. Unplug, find bluetooth device in Windows and there it was: B&W PX7 as a bluetooth audio device. Could give this one a few tries, good luck!
